SA wine has always been one of the greatest draw cards the country has to offer. Visitors to the Cape & the surrounding winelands like the way we make our wines & love and adore our Pinotage. Bordeaux styled blends & noble cultivars are to be found all over. Wine exports have also seen tremendous growth over the last decade. Exporting wine to clients overseas has been very lucrative for many. Foreign companies also enjoy importing wines from South Africa. With stable politics & a currency that invites foreign investment, South Africa is seen as the country of milk & honey.
Wine in South Africa
Tuesday, 02 August 2011
Though thought of as distinctly New World, South Africa's wine industry is actually over 300 years old. More and more local wines are to be found in overseas markets, including leading hotels and restaurants. These wines actually share more in common with Old World styles, than do their New World counterparts. Being a cooler climate, with a distinct maritime influence, South African wines are generally of exceptional quality with firm structures.
All in all the national style shares much in common with that of France. Balance and moderation are the buzzwords, making these wines exceptionally friendly at the table. With stunning character, South African wines appeal to all wine lovers. With their unique signatures, one might sometimes feel just a little blessed to own a bottle.
